Meet your representatives
Kia ora koutou katoa, my name is Gemma Bradburn and I am standing for the Blomfield Board of Trustees. I am mum to three amazing kids Caleb, 8 attends Blomfield School, Jayden 6 and Aria 4. Caleb had attended Blomfield School since he was 5 and has been in classes both at Base and Morningside Sattelite. I have a great appreciation for the work done at Blomfield School and
am excited for the opportunity to contribute towards the school.
I work at One Tree Point School as the Deputy Principal and have been teaching for 18 years. I am a passionate educator and have experience working within special needs education in mainstream schools. I am a strong advocate for my child and have worked with other parents to help navigate and access services. I have previously served as a Trustee for The Angleman Network NZ where I worked to advocate, network and improve services for families across NZ.
I believe that my experience and passion for education coupled with my perspective of being a mum gives me a perspective and determination that would help to continue to the great work carried out by the current BOT. Being elected to the Board would be a great privilege and one that I would carry out with a high level of dedication and energy.
My name is Brent Cross and I am currently on the Board of Trustees for Blomfield Special School & Resource Centre. I am a Fitter/Turner by trade and married to Lynda. We have two children. Aidan our daughter attends Blomfield School, she is 18 and our son Brad attends Whangarei Boys’ High School, he is 15. I have found my time on the Board very rewarding and raising the school profile in Northland. I am excited for the future of Blomfield School.
My son James has attended Blomfield Special School & Resource Centre for 8 years. I have been on the Board for over 6 years. I am putting my name forward after experiencing the respectful caring holistic and unrelenting drive of the people working with my son show. The knowledge I have gained regarding school governance and funding is irreplaceable. I am a Chartered accountant, married to Brett and we have 2 children. Naomi, who is at University and James. I am looking forward to raising the profile of our school and with my experiences help Blomfield School deliver its Charter.

I am Emma Watson mother to Tyler, who is in Totara class in the Transition Unit and Ethan, who is in his final year at Pompallier Catholic College.
I enjoy attending boxfit classes and walking and am an active home gardener
I have had 5 ½ years at St Teresa's School in Featherston and 6 years as a Board Trustee for Blomfield Special School, and I am currently the Chairperson for Blomfield Special School Board of Trustees.
Blomfield is a unique school, and it has had a high rate of growth since I started as a Board of Trustee in 2013. A balance is needed to grow the school as there is a need in the community but also ensure the quality education and support Blomfield is known for is not lost. The school requires an active board who understand their roles and can work well as a team. Trustees also need to put the children at the front of any decision made and help each child be as independent as they can be with the support of family, whanau, staff and the wider community.
